Your baby at 24 months
Two years old. Short sentences, strong will, and a memory that will surprise you. The story you've kept is becoming one she'll help tell.
Development this month
Milestones show up across four areas — and they arrive in any order, at her own pace.
What you might notice
- Combines two words ('more milk')
- Runs, kicks, and climbs confidently
- Sorts shapes and colors in play
- Parallel-plays near other children
Sleep around this age
Sleep is the question new parents ask most — so here's the typical shape of it, gently. Some days won't match, and that's normal.
Still a quiet midday rest for most, though some begin dropping the nap.
Ranges based on AAP, Polly Moore, and pediatric well-baby guidance. In the app, BabyBloomy predicts her next window from her own pattern — and never pings you between 10pm and 7am.
Feeding
Eating (mostly) what the family eats. Picky phases come and go; offering without pressure works better than a clean-plate rule.
Play & connection
Play is how she learns — and the easiest logging you'll do. A few ideas for right now:
- Pretend play — kitchen, dolls, cars
- Playdough, chunky puzzles, and drawing
- Running, climbing, and ball games outside
- Songs with actions and simple dancing
Moments worth keeping this month
The first years disappear fast. A two-tap log now becomes a page later.
- Her first two-word sentence
- A drawing or 'creation'
- Year two's diary — the story grows
You might be wondering
Many two-year-olds use 50+ words and some two-word phrases, but ranges are wide. Comprehension and connection lead the way.
Some do between 2 and 3, many keep a nap longer. Follow her sleep, not the calendar.
