Why comparison hurts (and what to look at instead)
Percentiles and leaderboards fuel new-parent anxiety. Here's the calmer, more accurate way to think about how your baby is doing.
The percentile trap
A percentile is a snapshot against a crowd, not a verdict on your baby. A healthy child can sit at the 15th or the 85th and be exactly where she should be. Shown in red, a number becomes a worry it was never meant to be.
Trajectory over threshold
What clinicians actually watch is her *own* trend over time — is she growing along her own curve? — not whether she beats the average this week. Her pace is the only pace that matters.
- Look at her progress against herself, last month vs this
- Celebrate skills as they emerge, in any order
- Bring real worries to your pediatrician or nurse, not a forum
- Put the ranking apps down

BabyBloomy is built on this principle: context, never a percentile in red. 'Within the typical range' — and on with your day.
